Finally convinced my bank to waive a $35 fee after 3 calls and a threat to switch

Been with the same credit union for 6 years. Last month I accidentally overdrafted by $12 and they hit me with the standard fee. First call they said no. Second call a supervisor said it was policy. Third call I told them I was looking at Ally and they caved in 2 minutes. The annoying part is how many people just pay these fees without pushing back. My buddy pays like $100 a year in random fees and never questions it. Has anyone else noticed banks fold fast when you mention switching?

Three calls just to get back $35 is ridiculous, but at least you got it done. Always wild how fast they flip once they think they're losing your business. How long do you plan to stick with that credit union now that you know they need a fight to waive a simple fee?

@adam_butler38 yeah, it worked out but took way longer than it should have. Honestly, I'm probably going to give them one more shot but if another fee pops up I'm out. Credit unions are supposed to be better than banks about stuff like this. My rule now is just ask for a supervisor on the first call when its over $20. Saves you two more phone calls.

Man that sucks you had to fight that hard, but glad you finally got them to cave.
