My cousin's kid once asked why we call it "baking" a potato when it's already baked when you buy it. Kids just notice weird stuff about words sometimes. It's kind of funny how they pick up on those things.

Wait, he's eight and he's asking about sauce reduction? That kid is going places. Most kids his age are asking why the sky is blue, not about culinary techniques.
