The 5am shift I picked up that actually delayed my exit plan
Three years ago in Austin I decided to take every overtime shift possible to save for a down payment on a rental property. Last month I finally added up all those extra hours and realized I traded 1,200 evenings for about $14,000, which my own math skills could have beaten with a simple online course. The side hustle I started last week is already making $300 a month, and the only reason I never tried it earlier is because I was too tired from working the boring job I'm trying to leave. Has anyone else found that the "grind harder" advice just keeps you stuck in the same seat for longer?
Ha! That math hurts worse than a pipe burst in January, doesn't it?
Your tired brain was the biggest cost, not the missed evenings, since it kept you from seeing the easy win.
Glad you finally found the off-ramp, even if the GPS took the scenic route.
