The habanero hot sauce I aged for 9 months got thrown out by my roommate

Last week I came home from a night shift in Austin to find my jar of fermenting habaneros in the trash, he thought it was 'moldy science experiment' from the bubbles. Has anyone else had a project die because someone saw the process, not the potential?
