Tried safety wire on a stubborn drain valve and it actually worked better than the torque wrench trick
Had a drain valve on a CRJ that kept weeping no matter how much I torqued it to spec. Last Tuesday I said forget it and safety wired the plug to the bracket just to see what happened. Flew three legs that day and the thing stayed bone dry, no seepage at all. I figured it would back off in a week. Pulled the panel again yesterday after 14 days of service and it hadn't budged a hair. My lead says I got lucky, but I'm wondering if this is a real trick or if I just got a good valve. Any of you ever run into a weeping drain plug that torque alone wouldn't fix?

Seen that trick work more than once. Torque spec dont mean much when the threads are shot. Your lead calls it luck, I call it thread damage.
