I finally left my job of 6 years after my boss told me I was 'too honest' for the Friday meetings

After 6 years at a small insurance office in Tulsa, I started printing out my own version of the weekly reports because the ones my boss sent were full of wrong numbers. He pulled me aside in March and said clients don't want the real numbers, they want to feel good, and told me to stop. I sat on that for 2 weeks, then walked out on a Tuesday and took a $4 an hour pay cut at a data entry place. The weird part is my old clients started calling me at the new job asking if I'd still help them on the side, and 3 of them followed me. Was I dumb to quit over honesty or did I do the right thing walking? Has anyone else left a job because of one conversation that just sat wrong in your gut?
