Hit 300 unexcused late clock-ins over 5 years and my boss kinda shrugged
So here's my confession. I keep a private notebook of every time I clocked in late and how many minutes it cost me, and at the end of last year the running total crossed 300 late-ins going back to 2019 at the HVAC shop I worked at in Dayton. The number itself didn't shock me, the timing did. I had it in my head that I was maybe 15 minutes late a week, but 300 clock-ins works out to 6 a pay period, and the boss had a meeting with me in March where he said my attendance was "fine, just fine." I sat on that note for a while and told myself it was no big deal. Then I went independent last spring and realized I'd been grading myself against nothing. My old shop had no card reader, no GPS, nothing, so my lateness never showed up anywhere. Does anyone else here have a log like this, and did the total make you change anything or just laugh?
