Showerthought: I used to roll my eyes at the '15 minute rule' for morning prep.

My old crew chief in Phoenix made us do it, and I thought it was just busywork. After a call where we were out the door in under 90 seconds because everything was exactly where it should be, I got it. Anyone else have a dumb rule that actually saved your skin?

Oh man, that's a great point. I read about a similar thing with pilots and their checklists. People think it's just boring paperwork, but it's there because someone, somewhere, skipped a step and things went really wrong. That rule about always doing a walk-around your car before a long drive? Felt silly until I spotted a totally flat tire I would have missed. Turns out those little routines catch the big problems.

Exactly. Checklists save lives, not just time.
