Spent $60 on a decibel meter and it saved my security deposit

Landlord tried to blame the hallway party noise on me last month, but the meter logged my unit at 38 dB while theirs hit 80 at 2am. I emailed them the timestamps and they dropped the fine, has anyone else used one for proof?

My neighbor tried the same thing after a loud Super Bowl party, and my phone's sound app showed my unit stayed under 45 dB the whole night. I sent them a simple screenshot with the time stamps and said I'd call the property manager if they pushed it. They backed off real quick, so yeah, having hard proof like that is a total game changer.
