The $15 oven igniter I nearly skipped fixed a 2-hour no-heat call

Customer in Austin had a Whirlpool that wouldn't light, I was about to blame the control board until a buddy said check the igniter resistance first, sure enough it read 40 ohms instead of 80. Dime part, 20 minute swap, unit fired right up. Anyone else trust the cheap parts more when the diagnostic makes sense?

Read 40 ohms instead of 80" is the kind of thing that makes you feel dumb in the best way. I've done the same dance with a dryer that wouldn't heat. Wanted to swap the whole thermostat assembly until a guy at the supply house said check the two terminals on the rollout switch first. $6 part, twenty minutes, problem gone. The cheap fix is always the one you remember. It's not about trusting the part, it's about trusting the test that points to it.
