Dropped $340 on a battery pole saw for high limbs, worth it or did I get took?

Got tired of dragging the big saw up on limbs I could reach from the ground, so I picked up a battery pole saw for around $340 at the dealer in Boise. It cuts clean on 3 inch stuff but bogs down bad in anything green over 5, and now I'm second guessing myself. Anybody running one of these on smaller cleanup jobs, or am I better off putting that money toward a better climbing setup?
