Thought those backyard astrophotography shots on Reddit were fake until I tried it myself in my driveway
I always figured the Milky Way photos people post were taken with $5,000 rigs at dark sky sites, not in a normal neighborhood. Last month I drove 45 minutes outside of Flagstaff with just my old Canon and a $40 tripod, and I got a shot of the Andromeda galaxy that actually shows the dust lanes. The trick was stacking 30 exposures at 15 seconds each so the light pollution averages out. Now I'm wondering how much better it gets with a tracking mount, anyone here made that jump?
