Had to pick between a stud welder or a glue pull kit for a hail damage job
I do mostly paint work but took on a 2020 Honda Civic with roof hail damage last month. Got quotes for a stud welder rental at $150 a day versus a $220 glue pull kit from the tool truck. I went with the glue pull kit because I figured less risk of burning through the thin metal. Took me about 4 hours over two days to pull about 40 dents, but I missed a few that still need bondo. The glue was a mess to clean up though. Has anyone else had better luck with one method over the other for smaller dents?
Oh man, the glue pull kit struggle is real. Tried one on a Silverado hood last year and felt like I was peeling off a second layer of skin along with the glue, haha. I think the stud welder is a lifesaver if you've got the touch for it, but I still stick with glue for those real shallow dings to avoid any burn through nightmares.
