I finally tossed the 3M tape and went back to welding studs, and the guy who taught me saw it happen
Last Tuesday I had a 2016 F-150 in bay 3 with a dent the size of a dinner plate right on the cab corner, and I was about to grab my adhesive kit when my old mentor Sal walked in to pick up his truck. He watched me squeeze out a tube of panel bond and just shook his head. He said, 'You glue that and I'll know you forgot everything I showed you.' That hit me hard because he's the one who trained me 12 years ago at his place over on Grand Ave. I put the tube down, grabbed the stud welder, and pulled that dent in about 20 minutes. The glue would've taken an hour of clamping and waiting, and I would've been chasing a low spot all afternoon. Sal just nodded and left without another word. Anybody else here still reach for the welder first when a dent has any real pull to it?
