Just realized my old paint gun was adding 2 hours to every job

Been using the same HVLP gun for like 8 years, figured it was fine. Last week I borrowed a buddy's newer one for a fender in Seattle and the clear coat laid down way smoother and faster. Looked up the nozzle on mine, the pattern was getting so uneven I was doing 3 extra passes to fix it. Anyone else ever measure their gun's spread pattern after a few years or just wait til something breaks?
