The 2008 F-150 cab corner repair time that shocked me
I looked up factory labor times last Tuesday and found a full cab corner replacement on that truck only calls for 4.2 hours, but it took me 11 with all the rust repair, so am I just slow or is that book time completely out of touch with real shop conditions?

Book times are written for clean trucks with zero surprises, not the rusted-out mess most of us actually see. That 4.2 hours assumes the cab corner unbolts and welds in perfectly, which never happens on a 15 year old truck. Everybody I know adds at least double the book time once rust repair gets involved, so 11 hours sounds about right for real world work.
