Warranty paint fail on a 2019 F-150, gotta love it
So I had this F-150 come in last Tuesday, 2019 model, only 62k miles on it. The clear coat on the hood and roof was peeling in big sheets, like it was sunburnt or somethin'. I called the dealer to see if the paint warranty would cover it, and they told me that since it was a fleet vehicle, the 3 year paint warranty expired back in 2022. I mean, I get it, they have their rules, but the paint is literally falling off in chunks, not chipping. Anyway, I quoted the guy $1,800 to strip and repaint both panels because the primer underneath was compromised too. He looked at me like I was trying to sell him a lemon, then asked if I could just blend it cheaper. I told him you can't blend a peeled clear coat, you gotta fix the whole surface or it'll come back in 6 months. Has anyone else dealt with these factory clear coat failures on the aluminum body trucks? Feels like Ford should do better.
