Took me 3 weeks to figure out why my car hauler kept scraping on one specific driveway in Columbus
Finally got this sorted after pulling my hair out for almost three weeks. Every time I hauled a load to this one customer in Columbus, the back of my trailer would scrape going up their driveway apron, and I couldn't figure out why it only happened there. I checked the ramp angle, measured the overhang on my own trailer like five times, even swapped out my hitch setup thinking that was it. Turned out the apron had a little dip right where the city sidewalks meet the pavement, like an inch and a half drop, and my mid trailer tires were hitting it at just the right angle once I was loaded down. I fixed it by getting the customer to have a guy pour a small wedge of asphalt, cost me $40 to split it with them and never scraped again. Three weeks of messing with my rig for something a $40 patch job solved. Has anyone else run into these weird local driveway quirks that only show up with a full load on?
