I don't think bench testing every box before install is worth it, and my last 3 jobs back it up
Everyone at my shop swears by a full 45 minute bench check on every LRU before it goes in the rack, but last month at our hangar in Bakersfield we skipped it on two serviceable units straight from the vendor and both fired up clean on first power. The part I keep coming back to is the units we DID bench test last quarter, where one passed on the bench and still faulted on the aircraft due to a tray pin issue. What are you actually catching on the bench that the built in fault pages won't tell you once it's installed?
