Got lost near Mount Rogers for 2 hours because I trusted my phone over the blaze marks
Was doing a 12 mile loop near Mount Rogers in Virginia two weekends ago and my phone kept telling me to take a left at a fork that had no trail. I followed it anyway for about a mile downhill through brush before I hit a dead end and had to climb back up. Turns out the real trail was marked with white blazes on a tree about 20 feet to my right that I walked past twice. The map on my phone was from a route someone uploaded in 2019 and the trail got rerouted since then. How do you all handle old GPS tracks when the blazes say something different?
