Told my buddy I only pack 6 lbs base weight and he called it 'stupid dangerous'
Two summers ago on a trip through the Goat Rocks in Washington, my buddy looked at my pack and said skipping a real first aid kit and PLB to save 8 ounces was 'stupid dangerous.' I blew him off at the time, but then I ended up hiking out 11 miles on a rolled ankle with just duct tape and ibuprofen, and now I always carry a real kit plus an InReach. Honestly, do you all think ultralight folks like me are just fooling ourselves on safety?
