Vent: The porcupine that ate my boot strap on the Superior Hiking Trail
So last August I did a 4 day stretch on the Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota and it was the best and worst week of my life. Day 2 was perfect, 14 miles, sun all day, and I hit the campsite at Tettegouche right before dark with dry socks for once. Then around 2am a porcupine chewed through my left boot strap and part of my food bag, so I hiked the next 22 miles with a busted laces situation and a ruined appetite. Has anyone else had wildlife wreck their gear on this trail, and did you just duct tape it or bail at the next road crossing?
