My uncle in Boise looked at my new deck stairs and asked one question that made me rip them out
I built a set of stairs off my back deck two weekends ago and thought I did a pretty good job. My uncle came by on Sunday, looked at them for about 10 seconds, and asked if I checked the rise on each step with a level or just eyeballed it. I eyeballed it. He put a level on the third step and it was almost half an inch higher than the rest, which explains why my wife kept tripping on it. I tore the whole stringer out Tuesday night and started over. Anyone else have a family member point out something so basic you felt dumb for missing it?
