Debate: is it fair to charge a roommate for lost sleep if they're loud all night?
My roommate last week came home at 2am, blasted music for an hour, and when I asked him about it he said 'you chose to live with people, deal with it.' I told him if he costs me 5 hours of sleep before a work shift, I should get $50 off rent, but he says that's petty and I'm the problem for not wearing earplugs. Which side is right here, has anyone actually enforced a sleep penalty?
