Thought living alone would fix my sleep, turns out my old roommate's 2am kettle was the real problem
I moved out of my shared place in Boise 5 weeks ago and was sure my insomnia would clear up once I had my own quiet space. My old roommate used to boil water for tea at 2 in the morning and I would lie there fuming, positive he was wrecking my sleep. But now I live alone and I am still awake at 2, except there is no kettle and no one to blame but my own brain. Turns out the noise was never the issue, it was me thinking about the noise, and somehow knowing a person was nearby made it easier to drift off. Has anyone else moved out solo and found the quiet was worse than the racket?
