Ditched my expensive stand mixer for a $20 hand whisk, zero regrets
I spent $350 on a fancy stand mixer two months ago thinking it would fix all my baking problems. Turns out I only used it twice for whipped cream and once for cookie dough, then it sat on my counter taking up space like a monument to bad decisions. Yesterday I tried making a small batch of macarons with just a hand whisk and a bowl, and honestly the texture came out better because I had more control over folding. The mixer kept overbeating my egg whites before, and I never adjusted the speed right. So now that thing is in my closet, and I'm wondering if I should sell it or just accept that I paid a fortune to learn a lesson. Has anyone else downgraded their tools and found better results, or am I just weird about this? $350 feels like a lot to waste on something I could've borrowed from a neighbor.
