Warning: My proud lemon bars turned into a gooey potluck joke

I was sure my lemon bars would impress everyone at my friend's barbecue last weekend. I rushed the baking and pulled them out too early, thinking they'd set as they cooled. When I tried to slice them, they just oozed everywhere on the plate. The host handed out spoons so people could scoop it up, and we all ended up laughing so hard. It dawned on me that sometimes a baking fail makes a party way more fun than a perfect dessert. Now I don't stress if things don't look picture-perfect. That messy moment brought our group closer than any fancy cake could!

You said that messy moment brought your group closer, but I gotta disagree. A perfect dessert that everyone loves can create the same good vibes. Why do we have to pretend fails are better?

Isn't it weird how the stories we tell years later are always about the stuff that went wrong? Perfect nights blend together, but the messy ones stick because they're real.

Three times I've tried to make those lemon bars, and each time they became soup. At least the spoon method saved the party from my baking skills. @blairm35, I guess some desserts are meant to be eaten with a laugh.
