A teller in Reno asked me one question about my savings and it changed how I see banks
I went in to move $2,000 into a CD because the rate on the board looked decent. The teller, an older lady, leaned over and asked if I was sure I wanted my money locked up for 18 months. I said yeah, why not. She pulled a sheet out of her drawer showing their own savings rate had gone up twice that year and the CD was barely keeping pace. She didn't push anything on me, just said I might want to leave some in savings in case rates kept climbing. That little moment of honesty got me thinking about how the big banks run things, and I ended up moving most of my cash to an online account later that week. Has anyone here had a bank employee actually steer them away from a product before? Curious if that's rare or if I just got lucky in Reno.
