Can we talk about the wire transfer headache with my new bank?

Last Tuesday I sat in a Chase branch in Austin for 45 minutes trying to send $12,000 for a property closing. The teller kept asking for routing numbers and verification codes, and my phone app kept logging me out. I had the cash sitting in a brokerage account earning next to nothing, but moving it felt like pulling teeth. After the third failed attempt, the manager came over and said, "You should have just called us first." I ended up walking to the credit union across the street, where they did the whole wire in 10 minutes flat. My question is, why do banks make moving your own money feel like a criminal investigation when brokers do it online in seconds? Has anyone else hit this wall mid-closing?
