Paper statement fees pushed me to try a phone alert setup
My bank started charging $3 per paper statement last month, so I switched to SMS alerts for every transaction over $1. It took a week to stop ignoring the notifications, but now I catch odd charges the same day instead of finding them 30 days later. Did anyone else get pushed into going paperless this way or do you still prefer the physical copy?
Three bucks a month though? That's like 36 dollars a year, which honestly isn't gonna break anyone. Plus you're now glued to your phone every time a four dollar coffee hits your card, which sounds kinda stressful. I get wanting to catch fraud fast, but banks are usually on the hook for that stuff anyway if you report it. Me, I'd probably just eat the fee and keep the paper copy so I can actually look at it without squinting at a screen. Different strokes I guess.
