Am I the only one who picked the boring annotated edition over the fancy banned one in Wichita?
Found a 1961 copy of Brave New World at a library sale in Wichita last month for $3, cover still had the old sticker showing it got pulled from a school district shelf in 1997. I grabbed the annotated teaching version instead of the pretty first edition, and now I keep wondering if I should have bought both, so what would you have done?
That 1997 pull date is wild. I found a similar copy at a sale in Topeka about five years back, $2 for a '58 printing with a stamp from some school in Emporia inside the front cover. I skipped the nicer dust jacket edition because I only had a ten on me, and I still kick myself a little. Those marked-up school copies have a story the pretty ones just don't, so I would have grabbed both if the wallet allowed.
