My pastor told me to stop pushing to pull a book off the church library shelf, and he was right
Six months ago I flipped out when I saw "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" sitting on our church library shelf in Fort Wayne. I printed out the page with the date rape scene and brought it to Pastor Dan expecting him to yank it that same day. Instead he asked me one question: "Have you read the whole thing, or just the parts you were scared of?" I hadn't, so I checked it out and finished it in three nights, and the kid in that book needed exactly the kind of adult I was trying not to be. Now I'm the one telling our library team to keep challenged titles on the shelf, and I feel like a hypocrite for the years I spent doing the opposite.
