Clipper fade technique has gone downhill since the old days

I see too many younger barbers leaning on the trimmer to finish a fade instead of using their clippers with the right blade combos. Last week a kid at my shop in Philly spent 20 minutes on a zero gap trimmer line that could have been blended in 5 minutes with a half guard. Am I the only one who thinks the basic clipper fade is becoming a lost art?

Is a bad fade really that deep though?

My buddy Darren got a bad fade last summer before his wedding and it looked like someone used a lawnmower on the back of his head. He was so pissed he almost cancelled the whole thing, but his fiancee told him to just wear a hat for the photos. @taylorm89 I get what you mean though, like is it really that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things? For me it kind of is because you gotta walk around with that on your head for two weeks minimum and people will notice. Darren's barber tried to fix it by blending it more and just made the top look like a mushroom. I guess it depends on how bad the fade is, some are salvageable with a little product and time but a truly bad one can mess up your whole vibe.
