My game group in Toledo keeps calling our weekly meetup a 'board game night' when we play mostly card games. It's not the same thing.

Honestly just start calling it game night. That's what we did when our group was playing a ton of Coup and Love Letter. It covers everything and stops the weird debates. If someone brings Monopoly, it's still game night. If you're playing a big box board game, still game night. It's the easiest fix and everyone gets it.

Totally agree, we did the same thing and it just works. Calling it game night stops all the silly arguments before they even start.
