Shoutout to the board game geeks who organize swaps to cut down on waste

It's great to see communities sharing old games instead of always buying new ones.

Ever hear about my friend's game swap story? She traded in some dusty boxes and got a like-new game for free.

Actually, most places don't do straight swaps like that anymore. They give you trade-in credit, which is always less than the game's selling price. So she likely used credit from her old games to cover a used copy. That's how it works at GameStop or a local shop. It's a good deal, just not exactly free.

Look, I get the trade-in credit thing, but you're missing the point. She walked out without paying any new money, so in her mind it was free. The old games were just sitting there collecting dust, so their value to her was basically zero. Getting something new for stuff you weren't using feels free, even if the store calls it credit. That's a win in my book.
