That one member who annotated my copy of The Hobbit still annoys me
Back in March at the Tuesday meetup, this guy Phil took my book while I was grabbing coffee and wrote 'this is where the pacing dies' in five different margins. I mean, we're here to debate themes, not judge someone's underlined passages, and he didn't even ask first. Has anyone else dealt with a book club member who treats other people's copies like their own notepad?
Honestly, Phil sounds like he's one bad review away from scribbling in the librarian's copy of Moby Dick. If he wanted to annotate something that bad, he could've bought his own book instead of turning yours into his personal critique pad. Maybe next time, hide your copy in your bag and leave a decoy of War and Peace on the table.
