My leather paring knife finally gave up after a 40-year run

I picked up this old paring knife at a flea market in Tulsa back in 1984, and it split a leather cover clean down the middle yesterday on a wedding album order. The blade had maybe a quarter inch of life left after years of resharpening, and it just snapped at the tang with no warning. Anyone had luck with a specific replacement brand for daily paring work, or should I just accept this as an excuse to finally try a spokeshave?
