That heat gun incident last Tuesday still has me rattled

I was drying out a rebacked spine in my garage and the gun tipped over onto my workbench, melting a 4-inch groove into my favorite laying press before I even smelled it. Has anyone else had a tool disaster that made you double-check every safety setup you have?
