Six straight days of losing my temper at my kid, then a coach in Tulsa said one thing that flipped it
I had a rough stretch two weeks ago where I yelled about homework, shoes, the dog, all of it, and by Friday my 9 year old stopped telling me about his day. I used to swear the problem was his attitude, and I said that out loud to a youth basketball coach in Tulsa after a game. He just asked me what I do with my own bad days, and I admitted I go quiet for 20 minutes, no phone, no talking. So I started doing the same thing before I walk in the door, sitting in the driveway for 15 minutes with the radio off, and the house went from 6 bad nights to 1 in the past week. If you've tried some version of this, what actually made it stick past the first week?
