My boss finally approved the schedule change after 14 months of me going back and forth with HR
I started asking for a set shift back in January of last year so I could pick up my kid from school, and my manager kept telling me it was out of his hands and to talk to HR, who sent me right back to him. After I printed out the company policy and brought it to his office last week, he signed off on it in about 4 minutes. Has anyone else had a boss who just stalls on stuff until you show up with the actual paperwork?
Your manager likely knew the policy existed the whole time and just hoped you'd give up. Stalling only works when the person asking doesn't know the rules, and the second you showed proof, he had nothing left to hide behind. Fourteen months of runaround for a four minute signature says a lot about how he handles being wrong.
