Yeah that's just a bad boss trying to look tough. It kills team spirit. People work better when they feel like people, not machines. A simple "good weekend?" goes a long way. Now everyone's just gonna keep their heads down.

See the "people not machines" thing, but I've been on teams where too much friendliness backfired. We had a manager who was all "good weekend" chats, but never gave clear feedback. Work got sloppy because no one knew where the line was. Sometimes a boss who just tells you what needs doing, without the fake nice stuff, actually lets you focus and get out on time.
