Why does nobody warn you about overtightening lug nuts on trailer bearings
Bought a used utility trailer and figured I would repack the bearings myself to save $80 at the shop. Cranked the spindle nut down snug with a 12 inch wrench and cooked both bearings on a 200 mile haul to Tucson. Back off to finger tight, then just barely snug, and spin the wheel to check play.

Cooked my share of bearings the same way, that snug plus a hair feels right until it isn't. Spin test is the only thing that ever saved me.
