Just realized the old guy at the parts counter was right about greasing slide pins
I was at Napa in Mesa last Saturday picking up pads for my Civic and the guy behind the counter, maybe 65 years old, said don't just slap the pads on, grease the slide pins or you'll be back in 8,000 miles. I nodded and basically ignored him. Did my fronts anyway with just the pads, and sure enough 7 months later I'm getting that clunk and uneven wear on the inner pad. Went back and he just smiled and handed me a $4 packet of silicone grease. Now I do the pins every time, takes 5 extra minutes and saves a whole redo. Anybody got a grease that doesn't gum up in cold weather?
