Showerthought: I chose a hand crank mixer over a paddle mixer for 40 bags of type S last Saturday
Had 40 bags of type S mortar to lay up on a retaining wall in Fresno last Saturday and I grabbed the old hand crank hoe mixer instead of renting the paddle mixer for $65 a day. My shoulders were toast by bag 25 and the mix was lumpy in spots, so I ended up redoing about 10 feet of joints that set too fast. Was the rental fee really worth saving if my joints look worse, or am I just being hard on myself?
