Chose the $2 coffee maker over the $250 one, my wallet says thanks

Moved to Austin last spring. Broke, obviously. Needed coffee every day but that fancy espresso machine was calling my name. Saw the price tag, walked away. Picked up the basic Mr. Coffee at Target for $2 on clearance, no joke. Been using it 9 months now. Works fine. No frills but does the job. The fancy one would've been another payment to stress over. Has anyone else dodged a big purchase that wouldve set you back? What did you go with instead?
