Got hit with a $60 'shop supplies' fee at a tire place in Mesa, so now I ask for the out the door price on everything
Stopped in for two new tires last week, quoted $180 each on the phone, and the bill came out to $478. Took me ten minutes of staring at the receipt to figure out where the extra money went. Two tires, mounting, balance, and a $60 line item just called shop supplies. I asked what supplies cost sixty bucks and the guy shrugged and said it covers rags and disposal. I paid it because I needed the truck for work, but I sat in the lot after and did the math on what that fee has probably cost me over the last four years of car repairs. Now I call ahead and ask for the final number in writing before I hand over keys. Anybody else got a shop that tacks on junk fees like that, and did you ever get one taken off?
