Hostel loyalty points sounded dumb until my 12th night in Lisbon
I always ignored the hostel loyalty cards, figured they were gimmicks for people who travel constantly. Then I stayed at the same chain in Porto, Madrid, and Lisbon over one 3 week trip, and the front desk guy in Lisbon said I had enough points for a free private room upgrade. That room normally runs 45 euros a night, so I saved real cash without changing any of my plans. Now I always ask about loyalty programs before booking, even at places I only visit once. Has anyone else gotten a surprise perk just from staying at the same hostel brand twice?
