Appreciation post: my little bar's wifi hit 40 devices at once on a Tuesday and I just stared at the router
So I run the wifi at the dive bar where I work, and until last week the record was maybe 12 phones connected at once on a busy Friday. Then last Tuesday, some insurance office two doors down lost their internet, and their whole team walked over for happy hour and camped out with laptops. I checked the admin page around 6pm and the counter said 40 devices. Forty. On a Tuesday. I stood behind the bar just staring at my phone like it owed me money. The weird part is nothing broke, no lag, no complaints, the little router I bought for $70 two years ago just chewed through it. Which makes me think the business internet plan we pay for is doing way less work than I give it credit for, and the router is the real hero here. Now I'm wondering if I should bump us to a faster plan before the summer crowd shows up. How many devices does your spot handle before things start choking?
