I finally stopped listening to the "always use OEM parts" crowd after my 2012 Civic's window motor died
Last month in Boise my driver's side window got stuck down in a parking lot during a rainstorm, and the shop quoted me $480 for a new motor plus labor. I bought an aftermarket one for $38 shipped and had it in the door panel in about an hour, and it's been rolling up and down smooth for six weeks now. The folks on the Civic forum swore I'd be doing it again by summer, but honestly the OEM motor is the one that failed at 140k miles, so who's really the reliable one here? Has anyone else had an aftermarket part outlast the original, or am I just getting lucky so far?
