I swore off junkyard parts for years, then a $15 alternator from a 2001 Corolla proved me wrong
I always figured used electrical parts were a gamble after a bad alternator left me stranded outside Fresno back in 2019, so I bought new for everything. Last month my buddy Dave pulled a $15 alternator off a wrecked Corolla at the Pick Your Part and tossed it in his truck, and I told him he was wasting a Saturday. That thing has been charging his battery for six weeks now with no issues, and he tested it with a multimeter before installing it, which I never bothered doing. So now I'm wondering if my whole no-junkyard rule was just me being lazy about testing stuff first. Anyone else run pull-a-part electricals long term, or did I just get lucky watching Dave?
